"More Than a Month," is directed by Shukree Hassan Tilghman. Owen Cooper is the producer. Tilghman, a 29-year-old African-American filmmaker, sets out on a cross-country campaign to end Black History Month. He stops in various cities, wearing a sandwich board, to solicit signatures on his petition to end the observance. He explains that relegating Black History Month to the coldest, shortest month of the year is an insult, and that black history is not separate from American history. Through this thoughtful and humorous journey, he explores what the treatment of history tells us about race and equality in a "post-racial" America. A talk-back panel discussion happens right after the film. Free refreshments will be served. For more information, call Drena. S. Clay at (504) 569-9070 .

Love to sing? Have you heard about the many health benefits of singing? With proper breathing, which gets more oxygen into the blood, the releasing of endorphins can have a similar effect as aerobic exercise. Studies have shown that singing relieves tension and lowers levels of stress, creating a feeling of relaxation. It promotes social interaction, and more. When you concentrate on singing, or on learning a new song, your brain power kicks in, memory is strengthened, and you really don't have time to "worry." So tune up your voice, call a few friends to join you, and come out and sing. No singing experience needed. For more information, call (504) 569-9070 .

Phase one will consist of training leaders (lieutenants) to organize and mobilize the community around public health advocacy (February-June 2012). In phase two we will begin identifying, with community stakeholders, what our target and strategy is for a real political gain around public health, either a) improving the state of public health in New Orleans or b) defending Medicaid against cuts. In phase three our collective focus will be on implementing the strategy during the 2013 legislative session. For more information, call Trap at (985) 643-6186 or (985) 774-5321 .
